All our bags are packed, we're ready to go!
Beth and I have been scrambling around the office, house, and cars pulling together all the things that we think we might need or want for our trip to the Tierra Madre Slow Food Conference in Turin, Italy in a week.
"What's Tierra Madre Slow Food Conference," you ask?
Well, Slow Food is "An idea, a way of living and a way of eating. It is a global, grass roots association with thousands of members around the world that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment".
Tierra Madre, specifically, is a platform of conferences and presentations to foster exchanges, discussions of common challenges, and proposals for replicable solutions.
Our passports are up-to-date, I've been brushing up on my Italian (gramma is so proud), and I've packed us enough snacks to keep us quiet on the flight!
Love the blog!!! Remember, don't let the Euro's push y'all around. American food is not just "Hambourgese".

ReplyDeleteFirst ~ congratulations on being selected from such a wide and diverse group!
My idea of slow food is part of a larger notion of what I call slow living. The symbol of that slow life is a well-oiled salad bowl.
In my house ~ the one I dream of having ~ friends would gather around that salad bowl and any other foods that would have been prepared. If life were just and logical, that food would come from our gardens ~ gardens planted by early April's cool sun and harvested by late Autumn's short, but warm afternoons.
Meals around that salad bowl would be rich with conversation and fabulous, fragrant food.
That's the slow life ~ part of the slow food idea.
Good stuff, Liz.
